product detail

Formula: Na2B4O7.10H2O
Other names: Borax; Borates, Tetrasodium Salts, Decahydrate, Sodium Tetraborate Decahydrate, Sodium Pyroborate Decahydrate; Sodium Tetraborate Decahydrate; Disodium Tetraborate Decahydrate; Sodium Borate Decahydrate; Fused Borax

The product appears translucent colorless crystal or crystalline white powder; it smells odorless, and tastes salty. When heated to 350-400℃, it loses all crystal water and become anhydrous borax. (Na2B4O7).It is soluble in water and glycerol, insoluble in alcohol. Its aqueous solution is weakly alkaline and colorless glass when melted. It has bactericidal effect and is harmful to human body when taken orally.

Borax is the basic raw material for producing boron-containing compounds, and almost all borides can be prepared from borax. They have important and extensive uses in metallurgy, steel, machinery, military, cutting tools, paper making, electronic tubes, chemical and textile sectors.

1. The product can be used to manufacture a variety of boron compounds, such as elemental boron, borate, metaborate, metal boron compounds, organoborate compounds, etc.;
2. In the glass industry, it is used to manufacture optical glass that enhances ultraviolet light transmission and improves glass transparency, heat-resistant high-strength glass, and special glass and glass fiber such as glass-ceramics;
3. In enamel and ceramic products, borax can make the surface smooth and the enamel is not easy to fall off;
4. Used in the metallurgical industry for the production of high-strength boron steel, high-hard heat-resistant alloy steel and three-acid corrosion resistant special steel, as well as non-ferrous smelting deoxidizer, co-solvent, purifier;
5. Used in the machinery industry for surface boriding to improve hardness and metal welding;
6. Used in the electronics industry for boron, capacitance, etc
7. It can be used as trace element fertilizer and pesticide in agriculture;
8. In the fine chemical industry, it is an indispensable ingredient in the production of detergents, adhesives, cosmetics and so on.
